What country did you go as a flight attendant?

Michael先生：
I have visited so many countries I really forgot how many. I used to keep a list but i lost it. But off the top of my head I would say South America(peru and guyana), Africa (Nigeria and Ghana), South Korea (Busan and Ulsan), Thailand (bangkok and Pattaya), Japan (Tokyo) Kyrgyzstan(Bishkek), Kuwait, Qatar, Iraq, Bahrain, Italy (naples), Romania (Bucharest), Poland (Romania), Germany (Frankfurt, Munich, Leipzig, Dresden), France (Paris), Ireland (Dublin), United Kingdom (London), Scotland (Glasgow), Canada (Toronto) Alaska, Jamaica, The Bahamas, Hawaii, Gaum, Bolivia,  Diego Garcia, and Trinidad and Tobago   I went to Colombia (Cartagena), Panama (Panama City), Dominican Republic, China ( Beijing , Guangzhou, Shenzhen , Maoming), and Japan (Tokyo , Nagoya , Kyoto , Osaka , Nara, Kagoshima, Yakushima, Gifu, Yokohama, Saitama, Gunma, Niigata, Tochigi, Ibaraki, Sendai, Kobe, Hiroshima) on my own time for vacation.

しゃけ：
What is the reason for wanting to live in Japan?

Michael先生：
I first came to Japan over 10 years ago as a flight attendant. But I was interested in Japan since I was 12 years old. I was first introduced to Japan from video games and Animation. Nintendo along with Konami were kings of the video game industry. Along with Dragon Ball Z and Sailor Moon. I used to watch these animes when I was a young boy. It wasn’t until I learned about drifting in Japan that made me a Japan Otaku at the age of 17. I wanted to come to Japan to race and learn about cars. I was obsessed with drifting and car life when I was young. That grew and developed in to a love for Japan. After that my dream was to live here. I didn’t care how or why I just wanted to do it. I quit being a cabin attendant and moved here after the March 11th earthquake. I believed that i could live here and I did it.

Do you want to stay in Japan forever?

Michael先生：
Yes I plan to be here forever. I love how safe, clean and convenient japan is. So i don’t want to leave this country. I want to be here forever.

しゃけ：
Do you like Saitama better than NY?

Michael先生：
I live very close to the city. I don’t see a big difference from my station to a more crowded station. My station is very convenient so honestly there is no big difference. I live in uptown manhattan so it’s not as crowded as downtown manhattan so living in saitama isn’t much different.

しゃけ：
Which do you think is better, America or Japan, for bringing up or raising a family member?

Michael先生：
This is a very difficult question to answer. Living here is very different culture wise than america. I don’t have children but my friends do. Their children act very differently (culture wise) than my friends children in america. So I think i don’t have much experience in that department.

しゃけ：
What’s your dream now?

Michael先生：
I wanted to drive and drift. and do crazy things but I changed when I came.
I just enjoy being in Japan and just enjoy living here. My dream is to continue growing my business and opening a community center to help others who have trouble living in Japan. Also open more schools and more centers for people to learn more English.

マイケル先生：
仕事とバケーションも含めて、数えきれないほどの国に行きましたが覚えている場所だけを。。

しゃけ：
日本に住みたいと思った理由を教えていただけますか？

マイケル先生：
１０年以上前にフライトアテンダントとして日本に初めて来ましたが、１２歳の時から日本に興味がありました。任天堂とコナミはゲーム界の王者ですよね。「ドラゴンボールＺ」や「セーラームーン」を見て、１７歳の時車に興味が湧き、レースや車について学ぶために日本に行きたいと思いました。
ドリフトと車のことから日本に興味がわきました。
オンラインで日本人の友達ができて、最初NYCで会ってそのあと名古屋や京都で会うことができました。
そのあと、「僕の夢は日本に住むことだ」と気が付きました。なぜ？どうやって？もうどうでもいいから、とにかく日本に住みたい！と。
３.１１の地震の後、私はキャビンアテンダントをやめて日本に行くことに決めました。信じた通り今日本に住むことができました。

しゃけ：
埼玉に永住したいですか？　

マイケル先生：
はい、私は永遠にここにいるつもりです。私は日本が大好きな理由は安全で、清潔で、便利だからです。この国を離れたくないですね。ずっとここにいたいです。

しゃけ：
NYよりも埼玉が好きということですか？

マイケル先生：
私は街のすぐ近くに住んでいます。最寄り駅はとても便利なので、正直大きな違いを感じないんです。私はマンハッタンのアップタウンに住んでいたので、マンハッタンのダウンタウンほど混雑していなくて、埼玉での生活も快適で、NYと同じように好きですね。

しゃけ：
家族と住むためには、アメリカと日本はどちらが良いと思いますか？

マイケル先生：
これは答えるのが非常に難しい質問です。アメリカとは文化的に非常に異なります。私には子供がいませんが、友達には子供がいます。彼らの子供たちは、アメリカの私の友達の子供たちとは（文化的に）まったく違う行動をしますね。まだ答えはわかりません。

しゃけ：
今の夢を聞かせてください。

マイケル先生：
ここに来る前はドリフトやクレイジーなことをしてみたいと思っていました。
でも今は日本にいること、ここでの生活をただ楽しみたいです。
私のはじめたビジネスが続けられて大きくなることが夢です。コミュニティーをつくることで、日本に住みたい人の手助けをしたい。
もちろん英語を勉強したい人のための教室も増やしたいと思っています。
